TEMPORARY ELECTORAL POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

 In preparation for conducting the 2024 Joint Elections (National General Election, Provincial Assembly and Honiara City Council Elections) the Solomon Islands Electoral Office (SIEO) is seeking to recruit temporary polling officials to support the Electoral Commission in delivering the Election exercise throughout the country. The temporary polling officials must not be actively involved in supporting a candidate contesting the elections and must remain apolitical and impartial in performing their roles. The Assistant Registration Officer Data (ARO Data) is responsible for setting up and operating the BVR kit and capturing applicants’ biographic and biometric data in the BVR application. The primary duties of an ARO Data are:

 

  • Assisting the ARO Team Leader with the daily operations of the VRC
  • Assisting the ARO Team Leader in checking witness’ elector registration
  • Setting up the BVR equipment at the beginning of each day
  • Accurately capturing each applicant’s biographic and biometric data
  • Informing each applicant of the importance of keeping a copy of his/her Application for Registration form safe
  • Reporting daily statistics to the ARO Team Leader
  • Packing up the BVR equipment at the end of each day
  • Safeguarding the BVR kit

The Assistant Registration Officer Clerk (ARO  Clerk) is responsible for filling in the Application for the Registration form for each eligible applicant and assisting the ARO Team Leader in the performance of her/his duties. The primary duties of the ARO Clerk are:

  • Following the instructions of the ARO Team Leader and together with the ARO - Data, to set up the VRC in time for opening each day by:
    •  Putting up direction signs,
    • Organising the VRC layout
    • Ensuring there is enough furniture (see checklist in Attachments)
  • Accurately completing the Application for Registration form with each applicant’s biographic data
  • Assisting the ARO Team Leader in the daily unpacking and packing of the registration equipment and materials as well as at the end of the VR phase

The applicants listed below are scheduled to undergo a basic computer test. Testing will take place from June 20th, 21st, and 22nd, 2023 in Honiara respectively. Those who successfully pass our tests will be requested to attend a BVR training in mid-July with the expectation of being recruited for the exercise commencing in early August. Once the tests are completed, the allocation of provinces to be deployed to will be made known.
